Time for another Billadeau project car – a Superbird clone. Early work included a Dana 60 being built, painting the engine bay, fitting a roll cage and getting the front suspension built and powder coated…
The Superbird came together and the HEMI took residence. Making 857HP it was good enough for strong 9 second quarter miles at over 140mph! After a couple seasons in American Super Stock, the car eventually moved on to a new owner.
Billadeau Speed fully recommissioned Chris’s blown 455ci Olds motor. We also modified and re-welded the roll cage, fitted a new fuel cell, remounted the seats and also fitted new gauges and MSD, amongst other small jobs.
Phil’s Road Runner came to us for a number of jobs including the fitting of a Sure-Grip diff, a transmission and brake rebuild, alteration of the roll bar and wiring. The heads were also removed to repair some broken header studs.
Nigel’s Firebird was fitted with a Billadeau Speed built 462ci motor on a 400 block, complete with ally heads, which was fit for producing 550hp. A Tremec 5 speed transmission was also fitted and the wiring was sorted.
Tim’s Gasser Circus contender was given a full wiring job. Billadeau Speed painted the stripes on the roof before Craig Ainge applied the signwriting to complete the trucks period style.
Mick’s Chevy gasser was having braking issues so the conversion was made to non-power assisted brakes. The front bearings and king pins were also sorted.
Howard bought a kit form 493ci engine for his Coronet and came to Billadeau Speed to complete the build. It featured a mild mechanical cam and B1/BS heads. This produced 550hp on the dyno, with 600ft-lbs of torque.
The engine bay was sandblasted, painted and rewired. Other jobs included installing the centre console, fitting a fibre glass hood and upgrading the fuel system. The propshaft was also upgraded to 1350 UJs.
