Another super Craig Ainge sign job completed for Paul’s Malibu, sorting out the ‘show’ part for Nostalgia Super Stock. Billadeau Speed sorted the ‘go’ side of things and fitted the engine, transmission and axle.
The car is seen in the pics below running side by side with Russo’s Rat at Dragstalgia 2023.
Russo’s Rat was originally built and raced in the US by Frank Russo in 1969 and the early 70s, before being sold and exported to the UK where it raced at Santa Pod in 1974. Since then it has been switched between road use and strip use numerous times. Chris Goodale first bought the car in 1999 used for both the strip then the street but he eventually sold it on. It was soon reacquired by Chris with the intention of taking it back to it’s 1970s glory days, which got underway in 2021.
Billadeau Speed oversaw the full body off restoration project from start to finish, working alongside a whole bunch of talented people – Ash Rawson at APR Bodyworks, Tim Holmes, Bri Whitfield at Roberts Motor Bodies, Craig Ainge, Dave McCallan, Ben Rushforth at EDA, Roger Luty, and more.
As you can see, the end result is absolutely stunning! The EDA built 548 big block Chevy under hood produced 750hp at the dyno.
The restored car made it’s debut in Nostalgia Super Stock at Santa Pod’s Festival of Power 2023. Check out these great wheels up pics from Eurodragster’s Julian Hunt.
Chris’s stunning Camaro has had various jobs completed at Billadeau Speed, and features classic super stock style sign writing by Craig Ainge.
Chris also has brought in the original Russo’s Rat ’69 Chevelle and it’s with us for a full restoration to take it back to it’s glory days of 1974. Look out for a full post with more details later in the year!
Mick’s Chevy gasser was having braking issues so the conversion was made to non-power assisted brakes. The front bearings and king pins were also sorted.
Rodzilla paid a visit to us for a freshen up and a new roller cam on its 427ci Chevy engine. Andy, a long time campaigner in the American Super Stock series, had run into the 11.2s with the Chevelle.
Pete brought the Chevelle to us for bodywork and paint. The car was also fully rewired. For the 2008 season, Pete ran a fresh 582ci motor and returned to us a fuel system upgrade.
For 2012, we painted Pete’s new bonnet and scoop and then Craig Ainge provided some period 70s Pro Stock style signwriting.
The 500ci big block Chevy was fitted into Dave’s Nova by Billadeau Speed, along with a full rewiring. It’s seen here getting some air under the front wheels at York Raceway.
In preparation for the 2008 season the Nova came back to us for paint.
After the ETs of the Camaro came tumbling down it became clear that Dan needed to install a roll cage to meet drag racing rules & regulations. He brought the Camaro to us, where a CDS six point roll bar legal up to 10.90sec was installed. The car was running in the 11.50s at the time.
